did i get a good deal?
03 s2000 with about 7800 miles for $23,899. with these extra's:
document prep fee $45
smog fee paid to seller $50
sales tax (i live in LA county, city of diamond bar) $1979.50
license fees $478
registration/transfer fee $15
california tire fees $4
smog certification or exemption fee paid to state $8.25
everything comes out to be $26,478.75 out the door. carfax for the car was perfect, but the car was missing a head unit (got replaced though not oem), and the entire car was repainted, which looks like a decently good job. the abs and eps lights on the dash were on, but they said the abs light was cuz the sensor was broken so they replaced it with one from honda and fixed the abs light, and as for the eps light the car was in the dealer for about 2 months without anybody moving it so after driving the car a bit the eps light went off. other than the abs/eps light the car is in mint condition. perfect interior, very clean engine bay, and just looks like what a 7800 miles car should look like
so is this a good deal? is there any of the above fees that i could have saved on? not that any of the category costs much but just want to get an idea.
thanks
i should be picking the car up tomorrow, can't wait!!!!!!!! s2000 here i come

That alone would have made me walk away. What car with such low milage would need a complete repaint?

I paid $33, 600 for my '06 two weeks ago, including 500 gap insurance and 1500 extended warranty, I read that someone on this site paid the same and was told he got ripped off because it would only be worth $23, 000 in 2007. Be very weary of the "I paid, you paid" threads on this site because everyone wants to claim they got a perfect deal. There are a lot of smarmy bastards here who claim you ought to be able to work the dealer into giving up the S for Miata prices.
One last thing. S2000 prices are location dependent. Here in the waste lands of southern NM they are hard to find and are more expensive than they might be in larger metropolitan hell holes.
