Default Did i make a good Purchase?!

Ok to start out iv owned my s2k for a few months now. Its a 2000 ap1 with 84k on it. A few weeks ago a sound started coming from the rear end...suspected diff about to go bad from all the research i did. Anyway to get on topic i bought a differential from a friend (mechanic) that just rebuilt it for his rwd civic. It has never been used and was built with Comp tech Ring an pinion,4:56 Final drive, Brand new seals, bearings, carrier bolts and caps and (foot print) not sure what that is lol. When i contacted him asking if he had any stock ones for sale he told me he had this one for sale for $1700 or he could rebuild mine with all oem parts for $1500 parts and labor. Well i dint want to spend 1500 on another stock one so i told him i would think on the built one and he contacted me the next day and said he would sell it to me for 1200 if i picked it up that day. So i went and bought it. Just looking for some input on if i spend to much or got a good deal. Sorry for the long story haha. Thanks S2K!d

I would rather have a Puddymod diff personally and I could be wron but I don't think Comptech ever made gears. I know the made reinforced housings but not gears.

puddy can do it cheaper and he has probably thousands of s2000 rear diff builds under his belt. i got my differential with 4.77s in a reinforced comptech housing and it's still going strong. he can also do a sleeve versus that crush bs too.

puddy probably could have built you a diff for that price, using the existing housing, but it's nice to have someone local to bitch at if it breaks. You basically bought a stock diff for $1200, which aint bad.
