Did VSA save me or is it being overly active?
I assume from your last post you put new rear tires on only? If so, we had someone in the club change the rear tires but not the fronts.....check the INSIDE edge of the front tires and see if they are worn. You might just need new front tires. That is what he found.
OP What type of tires are you running? You said "OEM Spec" but if they're garbage Riken's or something like that, then that could be your problem too.
I run 225/255 Sumitomo's and I generally have to try to get VSA to kick on unless there's debri, or seriously cold roads/tires, and these are by no means the greatest tires on the market.
I'm not even going to bite hard into the VSA argument. You can drive very fast through the twisties without ever engaging it. I'm not sure how much faster I'd need to go on public roads. If you drive with VSA on, and you feel like it's limiting your speed in canyon runs, then you probably either need to take some driving courses to learn how to turn properly, or you're just that good and you should probably be taking it to a track to get your thrills at that point.

My car has the OEM tires. Potenza Re-050's. The rears are new, the fronts have plenty of thread.

There's your problem. Like the guy a couple posts above said, VSA is super sensitive to tire diameters. I replaced my rear tires maybe 6 months ago (Bridgestone RE-11 OEM spec) and for the first few days VSA would engage everywhere, to the point that it was dangerous to have it on. Once the rear tires get a bit of wear this slowly starts to go away.
