It doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. If it were my $18k I'd keep looking.

Thanks for the feedback. It's consistent with what was going through my mind. Mad pup summed it up very nicely with the lack of warm fuzzies.

I'll place an offer of $15.5K contingent on pre-purchase inspection results, and if seller doesn't take it, I'll walk.

Time to post up on WTB...

UPDATE: Counter of $16K. Thoughts? Bueller? Bueller?
Also, would be great to get feedback on what things to look for vis-a-vis the rusted bolts.

if the previous owner couldn't spare the 30 seconds it would take to clean out dead leaves from the bay, I doubt the oil and other fluids were ever tended to. To me, rust and dead leaves screams it's seen the wrong side of water in it's lifetime.

I'd pass for that money. Don't get too emotional or in a hurry during a purchase, the right car will come along!

$16k is a very good deal for an 06 with low miles. If it's just dirty and has a repaint on the bumper I'd seriously consider it.

he did not say it had 9 different vin #s, he said 1 of the 9 tags that come on the car has been painted over.

Sounds like this car may have been underwater at some point. I live in Fla and my car lives in the elements for the lack of a garage. I have about 15K on the odo and the engine bay looks pretty close to mint. Too many questions concerning your prospect and probably doesn't even deserve a professionals opinion. Say no and find something else.

sounds like maybe the car was a victim of Katrina - especially with the rust, leaves, and high water marks - I wouldn't take a chance on it .

Don't do it. You're a fool if you do. You can find a mint '04-06 for that kind of money.

lift the carpet in the cabin area. If you see silt and dirt, run away as fast as you can from that deal.. It's probably a flood vehicle.. Also, the rear bumper being painted is also a sign that it has been in an accident.. look under the bumper to see if there is damage to the body..

Else offer him $12k and see if he bites.. GL..
