Good point. I remembered LE being a reddish color, can't they compare this to the OEM one and know that it isn't Honda fluid?
The color isn't necessarily a give away. Redline has a GL-5 gear oil that is bright red.
The curious thing about the LE 607 fluid is that it was never stated as having the GL-5 designation, yet all sorts of people jumped on the bandwagon and went with it. I just hope that time won't show that we have a repeat case as we did with the "Lemmings".

I wouldnt be surprised if the dealership is just trying to you on this one hoping that youll go to another dealer or something...maybe they have some particular bad figures they need to improve, and doing warranty work isnt their top priority right now.

If you do in fact have a HONDA CERTIFIED WARRANTY, as stated you may still have a good chance at getting this reversed - mention the Magnusson Moss act next time you talk to the service manager.

If you have a HondaCare Warranty - best course of action is cash it in and suck it up.

This is true if you are talking about Honda FACTORY warranty. As such the dealer/honda has the burden of proof that your mod caused the damage....however....

HondaCare is an aftermarket warranty/insurance policy which is not related to the manufacturer and as such is not bound by the same laws.

Its all in the fine print if you were to read it.....
Wow...did not know that. I'm now very glad I didn't go with one.

This is a real kick in the balls that it seems all foreign car dealers of all makes and models are starting to deliver to the American consumer. It's for reasons like this why I swore that I would never own another VW product again. They were the absolute worst when it came to this kind of stuff. I would expect a little more from Honda based on their track record for reliability. Granted, I would never expect that a dealer should pay for broken parts that truly could have caused a failure of a particular component like a Gear Ratio change or an aftermarket clutch/flywheel swap.

It's truly a sad place we live in these days that dealers need to stoop to the level of scrutinizing someone

I keep being told that the hondacare warranty is the same as my certified warranty. Where should I look or what should I cite to show them otherwise. This warranty crap is making it hard to think about anything else. The service advisor seems to think that the two warranties are exactly the same.

I just checked and it appears that the number on my card is the same as the one for HondaCare that my dealer gave me. I am confused as to how it is hondacare considering I never signed anything anywhere or was given anything anywhere that said that I would have my warranty voided based on the HondaCare guidelines online. Actually nothing on my letter or card says anything about hondacare what so ever

You bought the car used or new? I'm assuming used from your posts. It may be possible the original owner had a HondaCare "warranty" and it was passed on to you.

How long was the "warranty" good for when you bought the car? Maybe you have both.

I bought the car with 1900 miles on it. If i have both then I would guess the honda manufacturer warranty still applies, if there is such a thing.

Good luck with that, I had my diff blow last year and I had to pay for it myself and a little help from my insurance. All warranty was voided b/c of my mods.
