Wow.....Ask a question and this is what you get?!? OK, here's my answer. You have teh Si, and you would like the S2000, but want to know the differences?

OK, The Civic Si is a nice car for a civic, however it is like comparing apples to oranges with the S. Kinda like the Vette vs. a grand prix. The Civic was designed as a family car and the Si is more of a sports type family car. The S is just as it is. Top of the Honda line Sports car.

All in all, go take one for a spin and then decide yourself what you want to do. Dont let us make your financial decisions, sicne you will be paying for it not us

I own both cars, so I can safely say I've spent a considerable amount of time behind the wheel of both of them.

FYI - your question truly is apples and oranges.

The Si is a fun, peppy little Civic that I use for getting around when the weather is bad. Other than that, my S2000 is my daily driver.

I've been driving the Si exclusively for the past 2-3 weeks (stupid snow). I don't know if it's simply a matter of FWD vs RWD dynamics - but it seems like the Si can get up and go quicker from a stop. There seems to be more torque on tap straight away vs my S2000, but after about 4k there's positively nothing similar between the two in this regard.

As far as the shifter is concerned, since you bring it up - the Si is nice. But it's a far cry from the setup we have in the S2000. Don't get me wrong - it's WAY better than the gearbox in my wife's Civic EX, or any other economy car, but it's really nothing special. Even my old Integra GSR had a better feeling to it.

One thing I absolutely can't stand about the Si can be summed up in one word - UNDERSTEER! Perhaps I've been spoiled by the RWD setup in the S2000, but it's positively the most frustrating thing about the Si when you really try and get on it and drive it hard. Also, the Si seems to feel quite top heavy - getting grocery's and the like, you won't notice it, but corner it hard and you start to really wish they'd have sacraficed a little bit of headroom in exchange for more confidence in the corners.

Don't think I'm talking shit on your car though - I still quite like it - it's definitely just no comparison. I will never part with my S2000. The Si on the other hand.... Perhaps I'll wind up swaping it for an AWD turbo beast with a similar name (save for the letter 'T' in between).

I can't believe the condescending attitude of some members here.

it saddens me that some can't answer a question properly and honestly because of the cloud of arrogance that surrounds some of them.

Don't tell me to chill out...please....I have a right to be upset for Purple Haze. coming from a family of educators....i don't sit well with the two pages I've read.

OK, Simply put, the cars are hard to compare. Test drive them and then make your decision if you want to buy the S or not. With the responses you have received here, I wouldnt blame you but done not buy the car because of that.

Purple Haze, the best I can say is test drive it, if you like it, sit down and think of the finance issue. If you like it and can afford it, then get it. The fun factor for the car is priceless and it will beat your Si in a race, in the corners or straights.

Also, if this is gonna be your only car, remember that it is RWD. If this is your first RWD, think twice about it until the weather gets better. Your Si is much safer driving in the rain and I would hate for you to total it out. Also, the S is not a good grocery getter since space is limited

With that, I am gonna close this thread. Hopefully you found the answers you were looking for. Thanks
