Default Differences in S2000

hello everyone,

Im sorry if I sound like a newbi or dum lol, however, I have a huge interest in buying a S2000, but after 1 week of looking for one I just realized that there are several differences in S2000s meaning AP1 and AP2 and some red lines up to 9000 and more on.

I appriciate if any of you guys can explain a difference between these and also what would be the best one to get and my budget is no more than 13K thanks.

I owned an Evo for almost 6 years and now I wanted to try a convertable car and IMO S2000 is the best choice so please help thank you

Its funny because there is a thread on this very page discussing the same thing. Just saying...

There is tons of information on the site. Start by going through the stickies, and using the search.

Welcome and good luck!

jk

but seriously...for the differences you can easily search around on the forum and find all of the info you want.

This link is really good. Plus there is a video, so you don't even have to read!!!

with out going into too much detail...for 13k I would probably look for 02-04 slightly higher mileage than the average S the newer you get.

Like said above, if you read the FAQ and other stickies at the top of this forum you'll get all the info you need. Here is a short version of differences between the AP1 and AP2 S2000 (US versions), full details in the other threads:

AP1
- model year 2000 thru 2003
- 2.0 liter engine
- 9k redline
- stock 16 inch wheels
- plastic rear window in 2000 and 2001 (glass in '02 onward)

AP2
- model year 2004 thru 2009
- 2.2 liter engine (slightly higher torque, slightly different gearing)
- 8k redline
- stock 17 inch wheels
- revised suspension for "better/safer" handling
- revised front and rear bumpers
- 2006 introduction of drive-by-wire (DBW) throttle and VSA - vehicle stability assist.

Recommend you get the best maintained, lowest mileage example that fits in your budget. You can't go wrong with any well maintained S2000. Good Luck.

the s2k is going to feel really slow vs your evo (power wise), but the way the s2k handles will surely make up for it.
