don't use the OEM diff. fluid, i believe its designed for the honda SUV's, like the CRV.

use the mobil difff. fluid, i heard its good(most mobil products are good anyways).

After reading your how to thread Xviper I changed my diff. fluid today. It was not hard at all. I'm at 24K miles and I bought the car when it had 20k miles. Man it seems like the diff. fluid was never changed. It came out black and slushy. So glad i read your thread and did it. Now when the Honda dealer opens monday I am going to change my tranny fluid. thanks again for the how-to's with pics.

I'm glad it helped you out. You're doing the tranny fluid yourself too, right? I have a "How To" for that as well.

yep I'm gonna do it myself. I try to avoid Honda servicing my car. I just need the Honda MTF.

Did both Tranny and Diff. last weekend. My first time changing them after 23000miles! Diff. fluid was as black as it can be. Found some shavings of course. Had to borrow my neighbor's drain pump to pump out the last bit of fluid out.

I didn't notice the difference in shifting all that much but I guess it's being able to avoid the dealer service that counts .

Used Honda MTF and Mobile 1 75W-90.

Oh, yeah, I just HAD to smell the old diff. oil...NOT recommanded!

This is just for my curiosity but...someone told me that the MTF recommanded for S2000 has the same weight as our motor oil (i.e. 10W-30). Is this true? Is so, does this mean we can put 10W-30 motor oil for tranny? I assume they must have different additives or something even if they have the same "weight?"

Conventional motor oil 10W-30 or 10W-40 can be used in the tranny for short periods of time. Synthetic motor oil should NEVER be used in the tranny.
