I'm going to keep this short because it's 2:00 AM and I just got home. Me and a bunch of the HouStooks went to the 1/4 mile track tonight (look for pictures in the Photo Gallery).

My first run I rev'ed to 8,000, because I had heard that these tracks are really sticky. 8,000 was way too much as I spun a lot and didn't move until I let off the gas quite a bit - it actually seemed slick, not sticky to me.

On my 2nd run I decided to come down quite a bit on the rev'ing, down to 6,500. At 6,500 I popped the clutch and CRACK! This LOUD noise comes from under the car and it didn't move an inch (we have this on video, with sound - very nice...soon to be digitized).

So, we're all assuming it's the differential, but it could be something else. Had the car towed, taking it to John Eagle Honda tomorrow - and need to call Comptech to see what they think.

Notes: I have 38,000 aggressive miles on my car with plenty of high RPM clutch dropping. I have 5,000 aggressive miles on my car with the supercharger with plenty of high RPM cluch dropping. I have 1,200 miles on my ACT Clutch Pressure Plate and Disk, with some high RPM clutch dropping. I do feel this is a combination of the SC and the HD clutch, probably not something to worry about if you car is stock.

Pics of the tow, how sad:

That sucks! I hope it gets resolved with minimum of hassle and $$. I'd be interested in seeing that video! By the way, nice website!

Bummer about the diff... I feel your pain since the exact same thing happened to me this last weekend at the Atwater ProSolo. And as a further warning to the others on the board... my car is basically stock.

Sorry to hear about what happened Wesmaster. Let us know what's wrong with the car, and if it really is the differential.

Damn!!!That sux to hear...Do you think Honda would fix your diff under warranty? They might say too much power from the SC cause the break. Good luck though.

saw this from the stands.. that POP was so loud i was afraid it was the engine.. heard some not good sounds while pushing it back into the parking lot.. the track was extremly sticky..

i dropped at 6.5, 7, then 7.5.. i'd have to do 8k drop to not bog and after seeing what happend to Wes's car.. i decided to call it a day. hot, muggy, humid typically houston day.. not ideal for drag racing.. but fun regardless.
