Sorry to hear about your frustrations cdelena. I am going in on Thursday to reproduce the grind in my car that happens now EVERY time I shift from 1-2 without waiting 3 seconds in between. Because it is so severe, they should take care of it, but I hope there is no hassle I have to deal with.

Not to pile on, but I was told from an Acura technician that they have already received a bulletin from AHM detailing the type of damage that occurs from a missed shift into 2nd and the subsequent over-rev. AHM has specifically told Acura dealers NOT to warranty these on the RSX (in the past it was up to the dealer's discretion).

I really hope we are only seeing a glitch in Honda's attitute towards customer service, and not a permenant shift in policy.

The first question asked by AHM was "how fast were you going when you shifted into second?" My reply was that it didn't really matter, it will grind at idle. Now I'm supposed to return the car for another crack at the grind and hopefully have my differential replaced. None of this sounds very promising.

I dont have much good to say about service departments anywhere but one, and I still feel strongly that it was worth the ~900 miles w/a flatbed.

My warranty at 31000 miles covered:

Noisy Clutch disk - although it was used up . . .
Rear window smoky and scratched - the zipper got screwed up by ME - not use
TSB for 1-2 grind - again better but not perfect, had to change my driving style
seatbelt recall

Things I paid for while it was in:

removal of countershaft and gears to see how bad they were
replacement of reverse gear
Flywheel
PressurePlate
Bearings
Differential fluid change

all said and done they made some money off of me and I would have been happy to throw more at them for being a model dealership - one that others should wish to be like.

That one was Classic Honda in Orlando, FL Thanks goes to Sondra for introducing me to the Service manager Billy Walker.
Service was perfect, and mechanical work was perfect.

My local service department said they would call me back and during that time I got a mailer that says "we haven't seen you for 6 months, we'd like to service your vehicle again"

WTF!!!

yeah they keep records, right

Sorry cdelena, you hit a nerve here, I hope you can eventually get things worked out and that you don't have to search like I did for a place that has what some people call character, which includes integrity, honesty, and a willingness to get things right!

In this case I really do not think it was the dealership. It is my understanding that they now work with the tech line on all S2000 driveline issues and that is who makes the warranty call. It can be overridden but that is a zone, not dealership decision (unless they want to eat the cost). Apparently S2000 driveline issues are a problem (I still think part of the issue is that the US has higher ambient temps than most of the motoring world).

Chris,

I'm sorry to hear of your current situation. I'm beginning to wonder about the capability and attitude of the "Honda-Tech Line". It seems that they treat people with 'mods' as if they abuse the car and put all the blame on the driver. I've had my share of discussions with dealers just to get things done right.

I'm currently going through a different situation where my dealership is working on an engine problem. Over the last 3 weeks, they have been working with the Honda-Tech line but can't pinpoint the exact problem. I've been meaning to post this in the Under the Hood forum, but have been too bummed to type it up. I think you've inspired me with this post. Stay tuned for my sob story...
