Default DIY: Latch Rattle Fix PART 2

First I need to give credit to SIIK2NR for making the original LRF Part 1

Thank you.

Unfortunately it did not work for me so here is my opinion:

SIIK2NR used the EPT sealant recommended by Honda. I did not like that because one side of the foam has glue.

We all know how hot the latch can get when parked in the sun, so I did not want a sticky mess inside the latch.

SIIK2NR tucked the EPT between the plastic and metal of the latch. I didn't think it would work. It did NOT work in my s2k.

THIS IS WHAT I DID:

I tucked cotton into the slot in the picture closest to the hinge.

I also placed a piece of cloth between the hook and its contact.

RATTLE IS NOW GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will leave the cotton as is but the cloth will be replaced with felt pads.

The kind you can get at the hardware store to put on table items to prevent scratches.

I would not use foam because it will tear easy.

I think if you use SIIK2NR's fix and mine you will STOP that rattle.

For those new to s2ks or new to convertibles, the latch is NOT broken. I would NOT even say it is a defect. Rattles happen to all convertibles soon or later. And here is the easy fix. There are others but this is one.

HERE IS SIIK2NR's LRF Part I

I put thin plastic washers under the blue screws to stop the button from rattling. I also removed the whole latch, placed the red rivets against a vice, and peened them a little tighter with a hammer and punch. You may need to do the other pins too, but my latch is silent now. The washers made the biggest difference to me, but you may have a looser latch.

I have squeaks and rattles, but not from the latches. some sort of lube seems to help that.
