Thumbs up do paint Chip Repair on Indy yellow pearl?

This site is great. I'm picking up a used 2002 indy yellow pearl S2K tomorrow but the paint chips on it have got to go.

Been reading in here for hours now(mostly on repairing paint chips and the consensus seems to be that using honda repair paint (Y-52P) and a medium clay bar is what needs to be used, followed up by a good polish job a month after.

Questions I have on this is: Anything that I have found so far on the indy yellow pearl color repair paint bought from Honda is way to transparent. Has anyone found a better way or paint to use for this color?

Second, I've seen a lot of different suggestions on how to make the paint job look great, but as I'm new to this, I've had a hard time getting exacts for doing this job as far as polishes and such and weather or not I will need to "step up" and get finer and finer polishes.

It would be great if someone that knows a thing or two could key me in on what I will need as far as type of towels or sponges, polishes, wax, and anything else with brands that I might be able to find at an O'reilly auto parts store. I've found a lot of great things people have used but not much for everything that just one person has used start to finish using what can be easily found,as opposed to things I would have to order.

To give an idea of the paint condition of this car- There are a good amount of small paint chips in the usual areas and the owner(original owner) seemed to have always kept it very clean, but never seemed to have done much else to it. Maybe a few waxes but that looks to be about it.Didn't know very much about cars at all really but always kept it up through Honda Dealership.

Thanks and sorry I made this post so long, but I didn't want to be the guy that looked like I just popped up for an easy answer without doing any leg work myself.

I'll take any other paint chip recommendations as well.

Thanks for any help.

I would imagine you should be more concerned with how well the touch up paint matches vs how thick it is. Especially since the yellow has pearl in it. I wouldn't really know since I have a boring colour (GPW -- which I love).

I got some touch up paint from HTG (hardtopguy.com) but haven't gotten around to using it so I can't really attest to its thickness (not that I'd have anything to compare it to.) Here's a quick link for ya

As far as polishing goes, or product recommendation for that matter, you might get a better response going to the Wash/Wax section of the S2000 forum. There is a clickable picture in my sig.

I hope this post was helpful and congrats on picking up an S! You'll love it!

Yep, good luck finding paint that matches Indy/Spa Yellow. The OEM touch up paint doesn't even match.
