Default Do S2K keys float?

Every so often my keys are in jeapordy of falling into the toilet. Just wondering if Honda engineers have built in this safety feature.

Seems to me like the better question should be if they are antibacterial...

Well, there's only one way to find out. Remember, the best way to test this is using real-world conditions too. No testing environment (i.e. bowl of water, sink, bathtub) can simulate the shape of a toilet bowl. I believe toilets are shaped the way they are due to some sort of property of fluid dynamics - the shape greatly reduces the chance of "splashback" versus a general bucket shape.

Anyway, my suggestion is to construct a test-worthy "pant pocket" out of, um, an old pant pocket. Place your keys within the pocket, hold it about 4 inches above seat level, and tilt the pocket to an angle at wich the keys drop out. I'd also suggest doing this slightly off center, unless you have some weird sitting style that puts one side of your body directly over the centerline of the bowl. Carefully observe the result as the keys hit the water. Float, or sink? As with any experiment, the results should be replicable, so try it 4 or 5 more times.

Please, in the name of science, let me know the results. Perhaps the Journal Nature will publish as well!

Note to self:

Never leave my keys with axis_of_evil, happs22, or Destro.

Remember to wash keys and hands throughly after having keys returned from axis_of_evil, happs22, or Destro.

So. . . can I borrow your keys? I'll only need them for an hour or so. Hey, just think, when you get them back, I'll be able to tell you whether or not Honda keys float!
