Do we have the fastest top-down time??
I swear, I pulled over today next to a SL500 (old model) and while he was putting up his top, I rolled to a stop, put my top up, locked it, lit a cigarette, took 2 puffs, and drove away before he was 3/4 done with his top.
Who beats us in the time-to-top-down department???
I know for sure, it takes a boxter S much longer to get its top down, SL's are slow after my run-in, and the lexus hardtop wasn't too quick either... anyone else got comparison figures???

On my old Mercedes SL, it took exactly 20 seconds either up or down. But I loved it as one button did everything from unlaching, roll windows (up or down), and stow itself under a hard cover. However, I love the speed of the S2k, I timed it as 5 seconds. I just wished it would roll windows up when getting the top back on. I'm sure that's something Modifry can do

Are you talking "just" dropping and raising the top or going the whole road by covering it up too? Many convertibles out there that are fully automatic, also cover the top and are fully trimmed up when the process is done. A friend of mine has a 350Z Roadster. His takes some time to raise and lower but he never has to worry about that trim cover. I doubt an S2000 owner could lower the top, get out and cover the top up in the time it takes the 350Z to go through it's automated process.
But I could be wrong!

I personally think - and its my opinion!! - that it is more important to get a top up/down the quickest. This is because 9/10 you want to do it while you're on the road. Either its raining and you need to stop/put it up, or its stopped raining and you want it down. 5 seconds to stop traffic is much better than say...20-25 seconds. But yeah- sometimes I want it to unlatch by itself
