Do we have too many S2000s with JDM headlights in the US?

Default Do we have too many S2000s with JDM headlights in the US?

I just saw this posted on usenet in a thread that was talking about driving lights:
My vote for the absolute WORST HID installation (as far as blinding oncoming drivers and being annoyingly blue from a lot of angles) is still the Honda S2000.
Seems to me the only way the S2000 headlights can blind on-coming drivers (in the US) is if they are JDM. My USDM headlights always point to the right and down. So maybe there are too many S2000s with JDM headlights running around the US and we are all getting a bad rap for it?

The link to the full post is: http://www.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=...Urg%40texas.net You can see the complete thread, but there are no other references to the S2000.

Whoo hoo!!! I'm proud of this! I always wanted to have the deer-stopping-running-old-people-off-the-road- blinding-all-on-coming-traffic-bling-bling-blueish-purpleish--hyperwhiteish-see-me-coming-from-two-miles-away-my-car-is-really-expensive-lights.

I think you're implying that many S2000 owners in the US have completely replaced their headlight enclosures with JDM enclosures, which are designed to be aimed differently than the US equivalents. I don't think this is the case.

The replacement enclosures are very expensive, so I think the majority of owners who want a JDM look are simply cracking open their US enclosures, replacing the diffusers, resealing them, and remounting the enclosures to the car. Perhaps they could be incorrectly reinstalled, resulting in the headlights pointing higher than they were before, but I wouldn't assume that to happen in every instance.

Probably the poster's usenet comments were because of:

1. Stiffness of the S2000 chassis resulting in a flashing effect when going over bumps

2. Poster is jealous of our cool S2000 HIDs. Why else would he call them "annoyingly blue?" How can a color be annoying?

Stop the whining! This whole "HID's are the work of the Devil" thing is just the latest fodder for nitwits like Katie Couric or Peter Jennings.

In 15 minutes, it all blew over.

Enjoy them - we need the best lighting we can get to avoid "overdriving" the headlights at night.
