Running to redline usually gets me a chirp on 1-2 shifts, and sometimes 2-3 shifts. (2000 miles on second set of OEM Bridgestones)

I'm chirping, I'm smiling.

Here are my technical beliefs on chirping. Say your driving and you decided to shift at 6,000 RPM... You need to put it into the next gear at a higher RPM .. say 7,000 to get the wheels to spin faster than they were before... this will create that slip (chirp sound).. so to chrip shift at a higher RPM then the gear you were in before.. before shifting make sure the gas goes in a conciderable amount before the cluth is out.... maybe im right.. maybe im wrong...just my opinion.

Schatten, the treadwear on the OEM S-02's is 140...just for reference. BTW, I can get it to chirp if I shift quickly enough.

Chirp=less traction=slower
Just make the chirping noises yourself.

On a rear wheel drive car, like the s2000, it should be much harder to get the wheels to chirp. On a front wheel drive car, like the Type-R or Civic, when you let go of the clutch the weight shifts to the rear of the car, meaning less weight on the drive wheels, meaning chirping noises. ON the S2000 the weight ends up on the drive (rear) wheels meaning it takes that much more to get the tires to chirp, bark or make any other barnyard noises.

Just my $.02

Pran

P.S. It looks like I'll be putting a deposit on the S2000 very soon. I'll let you guys know how the s2000 handles the ottawa winter.

Here comes one of those "I remember when" stories: Back before most of you kiddies were even a gleam in your daddy's adolescent eye (1964}, my dad let me drive his beautiful baby blue Thunderbird. This baby represented the future of automotive excellence, resplendent in all it's chromed, 292 hp glory.

And even though the beast was an automatic, it would still do what we called "burn rubber" when shifting into second. Yes, my S2K-lovin' boys and girls, this bad boy would chirp! It was glorious, especially when a 14-year-old boy could do it in front of all his teenage friends. I had fun, fun, fun, and my daddy never took the T-Bird away! (until hetotaled it in 1965! He also wrecked my beautiful Lambretta motor scooter in 1961, the bastard! )
