I have the AVS Sports also, and they chirp pretty loudly. The SO-2's also chirp, but because of the soft compound, they are not as loud. But to add to the animal sound (chirp=bird), you can get those front SO-2's to squeal like a pig if you come in to the TWS hairpin WAY too hot.

Just make the chirping noises yourself.
I somewhat agree with this. Yes Chirp=less traction=slower. However; from my experiance, when I do chirp the tires, the chirp only last a split-second. My tires chirp on either the 1>2 or 2>3 upshift when I execute a very fast and well executed upshift. So you could say:

Very Fast Upshift=faster Chirp=less traction=slower

Resulting in Chirp with no net loss in the time it takes to go from point A to point B.

And hey, chicks dig chirps.

I hear a small chirp when I shift from 1-2 when I bring it up to 9000rpm sometimes. Otherwise when I don't hear chirps, I hear the tires sing from doughnuts

I get more of a tweet than a chirp.

I just came back from a drive where I tried to "chirp" my tires. All I heard was a "caw".

"A caw?" you say. Yep, it was a crow; he almost crapped on my car!

My S2000 does it ... though the road condition and the temperature/weather has a lot more to do with it than anything else. Usually it's just a small 'chirp' which sounds good but does not really lose me any speed. Though, when I was 'racing' my friends WRX my car virtually went into wheelspin when I changed from 1st to 2nd ... a rally big 'chirp'. That lost me time each time - at the 1st to 2nd change I lost a good 1/2 a car lenght just because I could not get enough traction to the rear wheels.

It depends on the tires boyz and girlz. When i had my winter tires on during my winter storage??????? i took the car out before it got really cold, i was able to chirp left and right, 1-2nd and 2nd to third. With the OEM so2s i can only chirp 1-2nd.

By the way, a chirp takes place only on a fast shift or a slow shift. Yes, slow shifts where the clutch is let go quickly also make the tires CHIRPASHDGHGDHGFDGH. YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This chripinn go me all exxzxited.
