Default do you drive more "aggressively" top down than top up?

riding with a friend in his Z3 and noticed that he was shifting somewhere around 1k to 2k rpms! ... asked him why, and he said thats what the manual says to do- i asked him if he ever revs closer to redline and he told me that would be bad for the engine!!! (maybe his engine, not mine!)
i also noted that he usually has his top up.
i then drove my car top-up (which i almost never do) and noticed that i tended to shift a lot earlier than i do with the top down. top up you hear more engine/tranny noises, and it seems to want to shift earlier! top down all i hear is the music from the tail pipes.
forget that top up stuff- going for high revs here...
has anyone else noticed that they rev higher top down than top up?

If I have the top up, I'm usually on my way to work or it's raining, etc. So I do drive much more conservatively. And you're right, everything is louder and more pronounced so I shift sooner. But, when the top is down...forgettaboutit.

I don't think it matters much to me. But I do tend to drive more aggressively than I do in the sedan!

The only time the top is ever up on mine is when it's raining, so I would have to say that I drive more aggressively with the top down.

Besides, I can't see nearly as well when the top is up.

haha i was going to ask this question a long time ago. I do notice that i drive like mad with the top down. Especially the nice exhaust note. But with the top up it's so loud i dont like revving too high, it's loud with HKS exhaust.

Actually, I dirve very conservatively all the time. I have almost 20,000 miles on my S, and I've still yet to hit that VTEC thing everyone's talking about. I always keep 2 hands on the wheel and ALWAYS drive 5 MPH under the legal speed limit. It's time for all of you to abide by the the same driving laws & regulations.

And yes.......I'm joking!

have had 1 or 2 close calls with the top up blind spot---therefore, much more out of hand with the top down (miss daisy would rather get out and walk).

Hmm, maybe this explains some of the outrageous "kill stories" that appear in Street Encounters - it's easy to beat any car if they are shifting at 2K rpm

Thank god for 'Kill Stories'. It keeps the other forums a bit saner
