Do you ever worry about the weight capacity (or load limit) of the S2000?

Default Do you ever worry about the weight capacity (or load limit) of the S2000?

I've just been reminded that the S2000 has a weight capacity of only 400 pounds. That is about the weight of two average American adults with not much left for any kind of cargo/luggage. I remembered a year or so ago someone sued Honda for the small load limit of the Insight because a couple bought the car for commuting and together, they weight more than the car can handle.

So does anyone here ever worry about this 400 poung limit? Anyone have experience of how the car behaves near the limit? I don't think about it because 99% of the time, I am the only one in my car.

I weigh in at 250 pounds so I take up more than half of the load limit just by myself, then you add all the crap I stuck on for mods and I figure that adds about another 40 pounds, so now I'm up to 290 in weight. When driving like this I don't notice it much. Then, my wife gets in the car and she's 6 months pregnant so she weighs about 115, yeah, I definately notice it and feel the performance loss.

When my wife and I drive in the S2k we are over the weight limit. The car definately isn't as peppy as when I just drive it. LOL. I curtail my activities according.

I have a friend that weighs about 325... I told him he can't ride in the car because we'd exceed the rated capacity. He didn't like that too much.

I've gone up to around 450lbs in the car. Seems just as peppy to me, but handling can get pretty squirrely! Very not cool.

One more reason to go for weight saving mods.

I took my muscle bound brother for a spirited drive ( 325 ) and I felt like I was driving a Yugo! He still thought it was fast though! I didn't have the heart to tell him he is fat!
