I find myself skipping 5th the most. i go from 4th to 6th almost always unless driving spiritedly. Also tend to keep the rpms at 1500 when leaving a stop in 1st gear. How about you guys?

skipping gears on this car is reported to cause damage if done over the long term, it seems harmless and I know how it can be more convenient at times but this transmission was not designed to be used like that. I've done it in the past but after reading a few posts on it I've never done it again. There is a bit of discussion on this topic if you do a search. Bottom line is don't do it.

From what I understand it is to deal with the syncros. Im sure someone will be able to dig up the thread in no time, but basically do NOT do it. Skip a gear, lose that gear is the rule of thumb I have always heard.

i heard it was somethint to do with how the syncros are designed. And the fact that our ratios are short. If you search you'll find tons about it. But from what everyone told me, and What i read, Dont do it. its bad for your transmission.

also when i do it i let the rpms drop entirely before going from 4th to 6th so there isnt really any damage on the synchros
