I definitely do not use it. My knob seat s a good bit lower when the nut is not in place and is still perfectly tight and does not move at all. I have no shift pattern etched in that might require the lock nut to position it correctly however.

Same here, a blank silver VooDoo knob

I do use the locknut with my ARC. No particular reason except that it makes it slightly harder to steal the knob.

No.

I tried it with my Skunk knob but I didn't like how the lock nut made the knob sit higher...not by much but it's noticeable. To keep the skunk knob tight, (there's a phrase I never thought i'd say) I just tightened it a little more. The shift pattern is a little crooked but it's not like I have to look down to figure out the shift pattern.

Hmmm so most of you don't use it. Interesting...

My nut is always with my knob.

I added more threading to the OEM shifter to allow my CR knob to sit a little lower. The 10mm x 1.50 die was less than $10.

i took the lucknut off when using the OEM knob, and it stays on pretty well, but of course the etching will most likely be off.

my muz knob (w/etching) has a set screw that helps hold it even better.

I don't use mine since I have a Mr. Alex Ti knob that has no engravings... I just screw it all the way down
