Default do you use the boot cover all the time?

Hi All,

I like to drive with the top down whenever the weather permits but I hardly ever use the boot because I like to get in, lower the top and go. The boot takes up so much trunk room and is very cumbersome that I leave it at home. Am I the only one? How much damage to I risk day in and out without the boot, granted that the weather will be clear?

Thanks,

Archon

I've had my car nearly 28 months now and have used the boot maybe four or five times. As you stated, it's a hassle and cumbersome. My top has stayed fairly clean since my car is always garaged.

I use the boot cover all the time when the top is down because I don't want it getting dirty. Also, I like how it looks when it is on the car.

I used that boot cover 50% of the time when I am driving my 00 S2000. that means leave that cover either in the trunk or on top of the soft top.

now I think I will only using it 5% of the time and leave at home the most time since my 02 glass rear window is not very hard to maintain clear.

YES, looks tacky and incomplete without. This is the one area Honda's R&D was left in the dust by the Boxster. Of course it is not performance related and only cosmetic.

Like Palmateer, I have never used mine and it's still in the plastic wrapping. Unlike our comptriots in California and other balmy climes, the weather around these parts is too unpredictable to leave the top permanently down. Since our weather can catch you by surprise and the cover takes up most of the trunk space, around here it just proves to be totally impractical.

Actually, IMO the best roadster top is the one on the Toyota MR-S, which forms its own boot AND has a glass rear window. I'm sure the next generation S2000, whenever it appears, will have something like that.

I use the boot all the time for two reasons...before I take it off I wipe it down with a towel and noitce alot of dirt that I really don't want inside the top..the 02's have fewer snaps to mess with.

I only use the boot cover when I know I will be out all day on a drive that I can safely leave the top down the whole time. I DO leave my top down most of the time anyways, but since the top goes up at most places I park it is too much of a hassle to remove and reinstall the cover every time. The boot cover was on the first month I owned the car, but after that I decided just to drive it wround w/o the cover. As I have one of the earlier built cars, but to goes ALL the way down so it doesnt look as tacky as the newer ones where the top sits slightly higher.
