I wait for the six beeps to stop. Sometimes there aren't six, and sometimes there are none. Strange. Anyway, I always wait until the beeping has ended.

i used to wait but now i just start it up without waiting. sometimes i want to see the whole tach sweep from 9 > 0 but more often than not, i find myself in a rush to start the car.
