Do you warm your s2k up?
i guess im one of the only people that actually warms up their car. i dont take the car above 3500rpms until i get 3 bars on the temp gauge, and then i dont go into vtec until ive been driving for 15 minutes. so i always note the time when i start the car, so exactly 15 minutes later i start vtec'ing. i was under the impression the car isnt actually warmed up when you have 3 bars. thats just the water temp which is easy to get hot again, but its the oil temp. you wanna make sure is hot before you start vtec'ing. thats just how i do things.

Start car, don seat belt, drop top, and the car is warmed up enough.
And what the hell is this, anyway?

You could have also chosen a username like "Anal Retentive" or "Compulsive/Obsessive".
You are under the WRONG impression. Do you really think that those at Honda who designed the S2000 didn't know what they were doing when they set the "VTEC unlock" at "3 bars"? Did you really think that they didn't consider the oil temp when the coolant temp was at "3 bars"? If you want to wait till things are "HOT", you go right ahead. That's your choice. Just don't expect to convince others that's what needs to be done.
This topic was beat to death in previous threads to this. At "3 bars", the coolant temp is about 75 degrees C (about 167 degrees F). Oil temp lags behind at that point by about 20 to 30 degrees F. Oil that is at 140 degrees F is hotter than the water that comes out of your hot water tap. It's going to flow just fine. It's going to lubricate just fine. It's going to do whatever it needs to do just fine. In fact, more than just fine. It'll do just great.
