Dodge vs. Honda
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota. This truck is remarkbly fast for its class. its just a 4.7 liter but I have about and extra 8k under the hood which brought it down from a 15 to a low 13 and high 12. It only has 20,000 miles on it and it still runs great. The S2000 runs a high 13 stock. but it really comes down to truck or car which would you prefer? Would it be more impressive to make a truck a 10 second car?? I would like to hear everyones thoughts....thanks.

And real drivers make TURNS. Going fast in a straight line, though not a piece of cake, ain't no rocket science either. If you can make your truck faster in a slalom course and handle more Gs than an S2000, that would be a more impressive feat than going faster in a straight line.
Why people make pickups go fast is beyond me. I fully support getting a good truck for regular hauling -- hell, go all out and get leather, A/C, CD, the works. Might as well be comfy in between loading and unloading. But trying to make it go fast just seems perverse. My objections to a modded truck come down to:
1) It was never intended to be fast, so it'll always weigh too much (i.e. more than a car)
1a) (Corollary) Therefore it'll always be "wasteful", of power, fuel, emissions, etc.
2) No matter how fast it goes in a line, it'll never handle worth crap
3) Suspension mods (esp. lowering) ruin its original purpose: to haul heavy loads! Such poor emasculated trucks no longer even have the novelty value of being a good utility vehicle that also happens to be fast.
But I guess there will always be people amazed to see a dog walk on two legs: it's not that it does it well, but that it does it at all.

I think the S2000 is more than just speed, it's also style. Nothing against fast trucks like your Dodge or even a Ford Lightening, they're great. The looks and stares that the s2000 get is unbelievable.
