Default Does the '04 S2000 still have a 400lb weight limit?

I remember a thread a year or so ago that discussed the 400lb weight limit (for passengers) of the S2000. I'm not 100% sure that's fact or not, but...

Does this still apply for the '04 S2000 with the softer suspension?

Yes, at least according to the manual.

I've hauled around a 260lb friend -- I weigh 190-220 depending on the season / cycle.

It's not as if the car can't do it, the tires etc just are not rated for it.

The car is a hell of a lot slower with even an additional 100 pounds.

This must be a Honda corporate thing or something. I had no idea the S2000 usefull loading was rated that low. I think a Goldwing motorcycle will carry more than that. I had a 1993 model that was rated as around 435 if I remember correctly. Think about that the next time you see one of those going down the road with big momma and dad on the bike. It's overloaded with just the passengers by Honda's specifications. Now assume all the luggage space is full as well as that trailer they're pulling behind the bike. I've seen this more times than I can count but people do it all the time, running all day at freeway speeds with no problems at all.

I think that's Honda playing it safe. Unless you're planning on carrying a half dozen anvils in the trunk, I don't think I'd worry about it in the S2000!
