Default Does aftermarket intake help stock?

I was wondering, since the engine stock is so efficient already, does it even help much to get an aftermarket cold air intake such as AEM or K&N on a STOCK engine? Or is it a waste of money?

the only thing the AEM is gonna give you is a badass sounding car. intakes arent gonna give you much power... a couple ponies at best. once you get the engine flowing more in other areas (the exhaust) the intake might play a part in the whole package.

Depending on the intake, it will vary from 3-6 rwhp. Now, that may not seem like a lot for some, but if you are going all motor every pony counts

On a stock car would this increase MPG's? I don't plan to track my car, just enjoy on the regular roads..

The sound of the engine alone is worth it. I rock Invidia exhaust now, so that is a mute point for me, but when I first got my K&N FIPK it gave the engine a lot more spirited sound.
