Default Does all year 2000 have the gear problem??

Hey guys,

I am looking to buy a S2000, year 2000 at 9k Miles for $26.5k in southern california. I have heard that the year 2000 has a gear problem. Something with the 2nd and 3rd gear not synchronized (not sure of the terminology). Does this happen to all the year 2000 cars? I ask the owner of the car and he said he was not awared of it. The car still have about one year left on the warranty or 26k miles. Should I consider buying it?? Please let me know. The color of the car is red.

Thanks.

Tony

Do a search you'll find a lot of good answer to your queastions. Mine do have the problem but i have an appointment next week to make it repair on the warranty. I heard that honda have put a tripple cone synchroniser on the second gear (instead a double)for the year 2001 but i'm not sure if when they repair it they modify that or they simply replace the synchronisers !!!

Effects model year '00 only and is rectified with TSB 054. Some '01's claim to have the problem but my recollection is the service bulletin is MY '00 only.

Drive it! It takes about 15 - 20 minutes for the transmission to warm up. After warm up you should be able to tell whether it's a good or notchy tranny. There are a few who have had problems but, I think most of us are happy with our transmissions. I changed my transmission fluid to RedLines' synthetic transmission oil at 6,500 miles, MT-90. What a difference it made, faster and smoother shifts. Always let everything warm up before driving hard. I have a 2001 with 7,800 miles on it.
