Default Does Anyone Rideshare / Rent Out Their S2000?

I was reading an article about the "share economy" which discussed crowd-sourced / peer-delivered services such as Lyft, Airbnb, etc. Personally, I've used several of these as a consumer with great success. The article mentioned a site called RelayRides in which people can rent out their personal cars for days, weeks, or months at a time... just like Airbnb for properties.

I'm curious if anyone here participates in this kind of arrangement (or has considered it) with their car. I'm toying with the idea of retiring my S2000 as a daily driver. Renting it out seems like a nice way to make some money while I'm not driving the car.

Don't get me wrong--I'm extremely picky about who I let inside my car, let alone who I allow behind the wheel. It looks like RelayRides gives you full control over who drives your car. When they request a rental period, you get to communicate with them and see their profile rating. I feel like I can be selective enough such that I get renters who are responsible, have good driving skills, and are preferably fellow enthusiasts.

The site already requires a good driving history when you sign up as a renter. Also, liability insurance is provided up to the full value of the car. Looking at some of the cars around me, I see several high-end BMWs, Benzes, Porsches, Vettes, etc. I even saw a handful of S2000s.

So, it looks like this is a feasible way to make extra income for basically nothing, BUT you have to be comfortable with it. What do you guys think?

No way would I rent my S out for someone else to drive. I've used Air BnB, but it's not the same. I tried to sign up for Lyft, but my '01 S was "too old"" for their inventory.

Why don't you track down this guy and find out how the experience has been for him?

seems a little risky to me even if insurance covers everything who knows how they'll treat the car? potential 8k clutch dumps would scare me. the hidden costs of premature wear and tear would be another factor i'd consider.

So what happens if someone kills someone driving your car and a relative of the deceased comes after your assets?
