I did try 87 before , the gas mileage is shit, and performance decreased.

Stop being an idiot.

Most of us if you run your car to empty put about 11.4 gallons into the car.

if gas is at 2.87 and premium is at 3.00 it will cost you about 1.50 more , stop being retarded.

your explanation is 100% right.

actually due to higher additives rate the higher octane gas contains LESS benzine so burning-wise and energy-wise it's less efficient.
