I have V763HCR [November 1999] one of the first of the original 500 S2000 that came into the UK. I will check he vin no tomorrow and post it.
Point of interest, first 500 cars in the UK came with a commemorative book on the S, + a few other freebies

My car was manufactured May '99 according to the door stickers. I took delivery of what everyone agrees is a 2000 Honda S2000 in Sept. '99.
No North American Honda dealer ever sold a "1999 S2000".
No Helm manual is available for a "1999 S2000".
By the discussion here, evidently "model year" is a North American concept that does not readily translate to any other world market.
I'm inclined to say there was never a "1999 Honda S2000".

if we can get one of the first model S2000's from japan to post their "applied model" code, we'd have our answer. though again, if Honda follows japans layout for those codes, then that dictates there would have to have been MY99 S2000's in japan, since vehicles manufactured before Oct99 automatically had to be stamped as a MY99 vehicle.
