Default Does the OEM titanium knob sit higher than al one?

I saw this picture while browsing in the Gallery forum:

It seems like the knob is sitting quite high -- at least when compared to my aluminum one, since there isn't much space between the bottom of my aluminum knob and the "bag" under that (mine is about 1/4 inch, and I didn't put the rubber ring to push up the bag). Or did the owner just didn't screw the knob all the way down before securing the nut at the bottom?

Thanks.

This entirely possible. When installing such a knob (with the shift pattern engraved on it), you screw the thing down as far as it will go, then unscrew it just enough so the engraving is the right way for reading, then do up the lock nut. Also, the Ti knob is of the older '00 and '01 design. The ones that followed have that leather band around it. Being solid metal can make for an optical illusion.

Also, as the leather around the shifter wears, it will fall down, which may be why you're seeing more shifter.

I have the Ti, it sits at the same height that my all aluminium one did.
