Does our car repeatedly "Bounce" off Rev Limiter

Let me improve on your idea (I hope you don't have it patented ). Suppose we have a smart ECU that no matter how hard you press on the gas, it will not hit the rev-limiter, but it will keep the RPM just below the rev-limiter. That way, there is no need for the fuel cut-off at all. You won't have the "brick wall" feeling and there will be no bounce. Without any fuel cut-off, and with a quick up-shift, I'm sure you can over take the truck with 1.5 seconds LESS.

I am now off to talk to some lawyer about this idea.

I have only had my S for a few months but have hit the limiter on at least 3 occasions. It bounces so fast that you can't really tell that the rpms are dropping. If the motor was build anything like my taurus Sho's was the limiter is around 3000 rpms less then what the motor is capable of reaching. The limiter was at 7000rpms in that car and the old yamaha motor was said to have seen more then 11000 rpms without a problem. Which is why I keep the SHO as my daily driver. 323,000 miles and going.

Rest assured, no damage to the engine will occur if you bounce off the rev limiter. When I owned my NSX and attended a national NSXPO event, Honda's NSX guru was present. There were many technical questions for him. The subject of rev limiters came up. Was told that when the NSX was tested, the car was driven in 1st gear floored with the rev limiter cutting in and out for two miles nonstop. No engine damage occurred and none was expected by the engineers. The rev limiter was doing its job. I'm sure the S2000 motor can rev at higher RPMs beyond redline but it was purposely set well beyond that for engine longevity. So bounce, bounce, bounce!

Really?

My first reaction when hitting the rev limiter was: SHIFT!

Maybe it is time to "grow a pair" and keep @ WOT in 2nd or so.
Just to see what happens.
If you never hear from me again (some may go ) it didn't work.

In each gear you can only be in vtec for about 2 seconds if that. Thats the only spot where there is any torque at all in this car. Shifting is easy to say but when it hits the red and your foot on top of the pedal that is resting on the floor its a little different. I just had a shift light installed and had it set for 8000 rpms so that it gives me about 400-600 rpms to shift before the torque falls back off again. If it blinks at 8000 I should be in the next gear before it goes to 8400.
