Does our top need adjusting?
I have had the cars top up and down so many times.....I have had it up driving around for 2 winters and what not. Now im hearing a clicking sound from my car. I can't figure if it is from the top or my speakers but I think its the top.(a passenger said it was right in her ear)
Things to do:
1. Tighten down all screws/bolts in the top assembly
2. Shorten the tensioner for the top assembly(don't know how to do that)
3. Rip the door panels off and take out the speakers and door pods(last resort but ready to do that!). I need to make new pods anyways.

My top was clicking too, I can't remember who told me this but open your top up a bit and open the latching mechanism. There are 2 phillips screws holding the latch onto the top. Remove them and take the latche off. Now with the latch in your hands look at the space between the plastic cover on the backside and the metal frame of the latch. Tap the plastic w/ your finger (does it make a noise?). This is the culprit. I stuffed some foam in between the plastic and the metal and put the latch back on the car. I have had no clicking since. I was skeptical at first with this fix b/c I thought the noises were coming from the roof mechanism too. Good luck.

Most definately the striker plate that comes with the hardtop cinches the soft top down more. I noticed immediately that it took a lot more force to latch the mechanism. In doing so it compresses the seal much more. Where exactly the soft top stops may be irrelevent. It should NOT be the reverse pressure the top induces on the latches that should make a difference. I recall also that there are shims that can be placed somewhere on the latch mechanism to "fine tune" the closure. Check out the hardtop install instructions on the H and A site or check the Helm manual. I think there are instructions there as well.
What kind of clicking sound is it? Is it more of a rattle when you go over harsh bumps? If so, my hardtop latch was doing this too. I unlatched it, used my finger and played around with the inside of the latch (don't know what I did), but the rattle went away. For my problem, I know it's not the striker plate, but the actual latch that rattles.
Its a clicking noise from the top somewhere!(I can't exactly pin point it
) I had the latch rattle and know where its comming from. This rattle I can't friggen pin point! I think its from the top seal but it still happened when the top was unlatched. I am going to put grease along the top and either oil or WD-40 the joints of the top.
I fixed the top latches rattling a long long time ago. I was one of the first to solve it. Don't forget my car is almost 2 years old.
