The only thing that I would add is that it seems like some of you are saying that the S2000 is great for a recession because it is not too expensive, but if you are really worried about what other people migh think, you might want to consider that many of them will have no idea how affordable they can be. Look at how many people think that they are BMWs.

 

Sorry to dig this part back up, but did you even read what he said? He didn't say he didn't give a shit about his neighbors or society. He said he didn't give a shit what they think about his lifestyle choices.

This wasent about buying the s2k this was about not buying a cayman S and whether or not the s2k would be a great recession car.
But i think in general he was stating how we should or should not alter our buying choices?

 

I think a car that is reliable/fun/economical/holds value/people want/somewhat prestigous/rare/ and will be a classic to boot is the way to go

 

Anyone who will not buy a car or any other "luxury" item that he can easily afford because of "what the neighbors will think" is a spineless castrated goat!

I certainly plan to keep the cars I have for as long as possible. I will not be "upgrading" from the S2000. If I ever replace the S2000 with another car it will likely be a practical 4-door saloon.

That's more along the lines of what we're talking about. It's not that we shouldn't enjoy what we "earned." But I don't think considering the feelings of others is without merit.
