Purchasing a 911 Turbo, or wearing a red miniskirt, is not inappropriate in and of itself, regardless of how many other people are not able to pull it off. Taking the car to the homeless shelter and flaunting it by revving the engine and doing a burnout, is. I don't think it hurts feelings to buy a nice car today any more than somebody buying a Carrera GT or a two million dollar mansion hurts feelings when the economy was doing well. It's what you do with the car - your behavior - that matters. Just like the guy a couple years ago with the open exhaust CGT, when everybody had tons of money (or credit, at least ) filming people he startled by revving the engine. That's asshatery even if every minimum wage earner in America could afford a CGT.
