Does an S2000 Make Sense as a Daily?
By Brett Foote

Quite a few S2000 owners drive their cars every single day, but there are of course concessions that come with that decision.

I was using my s2000 as a daily driver. Its not bad when I was working in Santa Cruz, but driving in Silicon Valley is not so great with the manual during rush hour. I have gotten up to 26 mpg combined so its not like driving a full size truck. Plus you never have to be the one to drive everyone to office lunch meetings with only two seats. if you carpool or need to carry large items for your work, its probably not going to work.I don't feel tires or maintenance are that expensive so that also is a plus. But if you have a bubble car S2000 with low miles, you shouldn't use it for commuting.

We're talking about a roadster. To be frank, it makes more sense than any other roadster.

If you want practical buy a roomy BMW or Mercedes SUV of sorts and if that's too practical buy one of their coupes instead.

I've been dailying mine for 8 months now since i've gotten it. Only gripes is i worry about heavy rain due to no traction or stability control.
Occasionally will gripe when picking up food due to lack of cup holders, but thats its for me.

Have you looked into any of the aftermarket cupholder solutions or is it not enough of a thing to justify the purchase?

Default A man can dream.

I think about spoon feds cupholder alot. It's probably the most tastefull interior mod I've ever seen. Sadly it's custom made, but **** me I want one so bad I might have to get my uncle who's into leatherwork to help me, I could bend aluminum fine myself.

So I came up with this. Its made of light weight aluminum that I wrapped in black leather (I do leather work as a hobby). The cup holder simply slides into place and is secure. It does not interfere with the radio door and is easily accessed by the driver (or significant other) while driving.

More or less they simply don't look like they belong lol

I like the Modifry one. I just installed it in my car. What it doesnt tell you from the pictures is that the holder part is actually removable because it snaps on from a cleverly designed clip. I keep the holder part in my secret compartment whenever im not using it. The bracket barely changes the interior of the car so you dont even realize a change was made unless you own an S or i clip on the holder.

W/no back seat, my wife keeps her purse, gym bag, etc., in the trunk of the S2000; I swear she's going to wear out the trunk release! Other than that and the stiletto heels digging into the floor mats, DD'ing seems to not be a problem. Of course, her commute is five miles R/T...
