Does an S2000 Makes Sense as a Daily?
I bought my 2001 AP1 in 2003 with 28k on the clock. It's been my daily driver just about the whole time. The roof is off every day and we just hit 310,000. It's been the most reliable car I ever had. People still stare at it. I still looks and drives fantastic.
Speaking for myself, I would get very little pleasure using the S2000 for daily commuting duties in almost any major metro area located in this country. In my case, living in such an area, the S2000 serves its purpose primarily as a weekend toy. Ideally enjoyed outside of the city. Different strokes as they say.
I used to repeat this to myself all the time about living in the Dallas area back when I was located there. I could never picture myself moving back. Yet I have a number of good friends there that would not live anywhere else and I get it. Not everyone is looking for the same things out of life or for that matter from their S2000 experience.

Personally, I wouldn't daily it. It's a fun car to drive and I thoroughly enjoy mine - on weekends - but there are times when it's nice to just jump into the daily drivers (mine are a '06 Fusion and an '07 Hyundai minivan) and let the auto trans do the work and enjoy the comfy ride. My drive to work frequently involves stop-and-go traffic, and for that I would leave the S2000 in the garage.
That's amazing. I've been daily driving since brand new in 2004 now with 114,000 miles. I VTEC several times a day, every single day, for 15 years...it never gets old.
I just bought mine in May but plan on using mine daily between March through the end of Nov, no regrets. My commute is also only 2 miles up the road. I generally take a long about way to get to work just because I love driving it that much. Putting it away the end of this month, as in PA they salt the roads way too much. I'll be sad not driving it for a few months, but I know that startup in march will be well worth it.
I can't blame people for preferring automatic and the smooth ride provided by these 2015+ SUVs, but theyre just soo boring and forgetful. I still tease my friend whos driven a Hyundai suv since he was 25. I drove a 90s Honda in winter every day and just graduated, didn't cry once and it never failed me. Quit your moaning before you wake up and you realize your 70 with real things to groan about. My dad chose his dodge caravan over his 66 Camaro back in 2001 and sold it cus the van was comfy lol. Although it was new then its truly laughable now and he still drives it cus his new jeep is worse on gas.
