does this seem right?

mi amigo,
1/4 tank is not 1/4 of a full tank of gas. The guages are weighted so that the first half tank much more than the second half of the tank. It's a psychological thing for people to make them think the gas is lasting longer.

Saying "I have this many miles on 3/4 tank" doesnt really mean anything without the math behind it. Mostly because the gauge is not accurate, especially when it gets low (I've had it drop from 3 bars to none in a 10 mile drive, only to go back up to 3 bars before I even reach my destination).
Once you get your mileage, fill your tank. Divide miles travelled by how many gallons it takes to fill and compare MPG with others.
For better results, total it out across multiple tanks and keep a log and get your average across 5 fills.

250.. that's like super high for me. I'll never ever get that high.
I drive pretty much 90% in city with horrible traffic jam plus hills and stuff.
btw how exactly does CAI affect mileage?

I shift at 5k up to the speed limit (35-45 mph around my part of the woods). I am in 5th gear anytime I am motoring at 45+ mph (unless I am highway driving). I enter Vtec territory only a couples times a week. 200-220 miles on tank is all I am getting. Of course I am not bone dry when I fill up, I usually have a few bars remaining. However, I don't risk driving around after I get ~220 miles on a tank. I don't want to be walking home.
I have made a trip from chicago to iowa city on one tank. It is a 235 mile trip, all highway. I am sure I could have gotten another 50-75 miles out of the tank if I was curious and just kept driving. Any one else observing the same mpg?

I dont know what kind of mileage I get - but I do know its pretty decent. On DD status (Ive done it for a couple weeks) I filled up after a week and a half (6 miles to work and back). Also I drove about 25 miles with the gas light on and no bars. Go figure. I dont like the way gas gauges are calibrated.

I don't think that I have ever gotten 300 miles out of one tank... but I almost did once in Indiana between Indianapolis and Chicago. Man, there are like 3 stations between those cities. You have to drive forever to get to one. I was loosing my mind. I rolled up my windows, turned off the AC.
i had the top down the entire time.
Just fill your tank, and divide the amount of miles you drove since your last fill up (from your trip meter) by the amount of gallons that you filled with.
For instance, 250miles/10 gallons = 25mpg.
That would be decent gas mileage
