No, it does not include an exhaust, and no it is not "necessary". The car will see 100 HP gains (@85 at the wheels) just from putting the kit on. Put an exhaust on for the look/sound, it'll give a few HP as well - but definitely not "necessary".

so...getting an aem cai is basically pointless since it would be replace with the charger's system, right? Sorry, I'm totally confused about this whole issue. I'm aching to modify, but i'd prefer not to get something now that i'd have to get rid of later to make room for the charger.

As far as your previous question about the warranty, it DOES void the warranty on the engine. Wes's engine has held up perfectly with the S/C addition. Comptech has went through great lengths of R&D to ensure that the S/C would not blow the engine. The drivetrain is a different matter.
Just remember one thing if you get one, NO CLUTCH DUMPS!!! If you do, these words will become a part of conversation: AXLE and DIFFERENTIAL.
