Default Does the tachometer match up with the actual rpm's when you misshift?

Hi guys, I have had MY02 for a little over a year now and I've only misshifted 2 maybe 3 times. Luckily I am cautious when letting out the clutch so I was able to catch it at about 6-7k rpm's, or at least that was what was shown on the tach. So on to my question, whenever you misshift is the tach fast enough to accurately keep up with the rpm's or was I really at about 9k rpm's when the tach said 6-7? I was just curious. I haven't misshifted in a few months, just thought I'd ask. Thanks

yes it is fast enough to alert you, you had plenty room to go by the sounds of it, I wouldn't worry based on that info. , if you go 9700 or over then it might be time to worry.

I think the better question is - When are you going to properly learn to shift?

I've been working on it. The 3rd to 4th shift is where I've missed the most (2/3 times). The third time was during a wide turn at autocross and I managed to go from 2nd to first, but caught it before it hit redline. It scared the shit outta me.

Since my last misshift I've changed my grip from a pistol grip to an over the top grip. Another thing that has helped a ton is doing a sort of upside down pistol grip when shifting from 3rd to 4th. It's supposedly a Japanese method to prevent misshifts in that range.

I push the shifter around with my hand like a paddle to avoid this very issue. Going from 3rd to 4th is very easy if you're only pushing it down. There has to be videos on youtube to help with this.
