My service manager just called, I had dropped my car off for the TSB and the seatbelt thing (finally), and he said "would you want brand new pressure plate, bearing, (and some other stuff) with your new plate?" I asked what for, he said "well, you're putting in a new disc with other clutch parts with 16K miles on them, you may wanna..." so I asked how much, and he said "oh, about $700 dollars." I was like no, thank you.

Should I have paid the $700? I might as well get the Spoon clutch assembly (since I sell them anyways ).

I got the pressure plate and release bearing changed for free with the disc. So did most others i believe. You may consider making them change it for free.

my dealer said that he would replace the disc since there was an updated part #, but since there was no update for the pressure plate, etc that he couldn't do that.

This was before TSB54 was actually called TSB54. I just told the dealer that there was a new part for the clutch and that it had cured many people's noise under decel. The dealer told me that was good enough for him to swap it out. I told him most people had this done during the grind repair, which my car hasnt needed... yet!

Richard,

my car drives just fine and I've put over city miles on the clutch. No strange noises...

They asked me if I'd pay to have it done and when I told them "no" they did it and didn't charge me.
