tire pressures are quite important and so is the alignment settings.

do you know what you have the car set to for either ?

im currently running exacty 35 psi all around. stock alignment settings, hub centric rings are on properly. lug nuts torqued properly...

I still think its the tires... s03 sidewalls flex way more than the oem s02s

i think i'll go mich pilots next.. they seem to work very well on the bmw M cars..

I had S03's as replacement tires for my worn S02's, and ending up returing them. Although they rode nice smooth and quiet in a straight line, they definately were much softer in feeling on the turns. It really felt like the sidewall was flexing, and no way nearly as crisp in handling as the S02's. Turn-in actually felt kinda slow and "squishy" I've heard the argument that it isn't fair to compare worn S02's to new S03's, and that the S03's just need some miles put on them. I put about 700 miles on them before I sent them back, and went I put on my new replacment S02's, the handling of the car was back to normal - no break in required!

The Michelin Pilot Sports have a softer sidewall than the S02's also...

I just reread your original post - the problem is that your rears are too narrow for the fronts! You should be running closer to a 265-275 on the rear to match those fronts!

Keep in mind that the stock 205 is slightly narrower than normal in tread width and the stock 225 rear is slightly wider than the normal 225 (in fact closer to a 245 in tread width). So, if you run a normal 225 in front your rears should be a 265-275 assuming it would fit.

I don't have 17", but I've got the 18" variety of S03. The tire definitely has a softer sidewall, I can almost tell no difference in the ride from 16's to 18's. The tire is also not nearly as soft a compound, it breaks loose way before my S02's did, but the transition is good. I'll see how long they last...

I don't know about the tires- but could you elaborate on the rear end breaking loose shifting into 2nd? How do you do this? I shift pretty quickly, but have never broke the backend loose on a shift.

You should use 215 at the front 245 or 255 at the rear.
Your current setup make your car prone to oversteer. (tail happy).
Try 37psi all 4 corners and practice more. You need correct size tires and a good racing school.
