Perhaps I didn't explain properly. The fact that my soft top didn't retract properly was not due to being "not yet broken in." It was a FACTORY DEFECT.

Some go down correctly from the start. Many don't. There's a service bulleton on adjusting the stops. I've seen it mentioned in threads on this board.

My dealer has tried to adjust mine, but really hasn't. If mine doesn't rectract properly on its own, I put it back up and then I put it down with gentle pressure on the second bar back. That seems to do it.

If you do a search you will find a lot of information on using the tonneau cover (top cover). I have one thread where I explain the correct way to put the cover on. I use mine almost all the time, the car really looks nice when you use it.

I will do a search if I have time later and give a link to the thread if I find it. Got to run - sun is up and my S awaits me.

I just copied this from the thread I was talking about, try it, works for me every time.

Quote from an early thread:
No problem at all.

I lay the cover over the top once it is in the well. Then I put the snaps on the ones down along the seats. I make sure the part of the cover close to the front is tucked in and the tabs are free. I then reach under the cover and snap the other four snaps and then push the cover down into place until the tabs hold it where it needs to be. I have it down to a minute or two and never have any problems with.

I store it exactly like the picture on the instructions shows you. I not sure why so many people have problems with this, but maybe they are not storing it properly. Hope this helps you out.
End of Quote.

Do an advance search using "tonneau and cover" and you will find plenty of reading on this subject.

My 02 had the same problems, boot fit like shit!
I found the TSB on the top not closing all the way.
My top was 2 inches to high at rest. Adjusted to specs,
boot fits perfect and both snaps are latched!!!

At z3solutions they sell a cloth boot cover, especially for traveling. Soft, easy to mount and folds up to fit behind a seat. I know the owner, Keith Sheldon, he's interested in producing roof covers and other items if there's enough interest from owners. Drop him a line if you see anything interesting Z3Solutions

Hey thanks for all the good help. I will struggle with the bloody thing for a while to see if it loosens up. Saved me going to the dealer's and likely getting the same sort of no help that many of you got.

LOve the car no matter whether the top cover fitrs or not, Just taking Honmda at their word that it is a good idea to keep dirt out of the top and mechanism if possible.

Now if someone will tell me how to avoid scraping the front end on parking dividers and curbs that would really help.
