Does your top cover fit ?
Love my 2 month S2000 (Silver/black) and it does everything right. Doesn't burn oil, is easy to shift, runs like a charm, and the top is sooo easy to operate. BUT the top cover just plain doesn't fit. I can only get one of the two push connectors on the rear to fit ... whichever one I do first, the other one is mismatched by about 1/2 inch. Are they all like this ? Why do I care ?? Cause I wonder if the thing is going to blow off. Don't use it much, but would like to be able to get it on without employing a sumo wrestler when I do.

I have the same problem. I have to really stretch the top in order to get both connector on. The first time I did this I struggled and ended up with many scratches on the paint near the top of the trunk. I have never used it again. Many bras have to sit out in the sun before installation to allow them to expand. I wonder if placing the cover out in the sun for about 30 minutes makes installation easier.

I think that is normal....(hopefully)
because my experience of 2 S2000, I know the tonneau cover (top cover) is a pain in the @$$ to install when it is very new, after using it many time, it will getting easier to install.
I also got scratches by the tonneau cover on my 00 S2000, so I will never use that thing on my 02...

I have the same problem with my MY2002. I have used it a couple of times, but I noticed a couple of scratches on the black rubber between the top and the paint. I am hoping that it gets easier!

Mine was a bear when I first got the car in January. Keep doing it...it eventually gets a lot easier. It needs to be "broken in." I can do it now in about 30 seconds.

My 02 has become easier to use. The first time was a real b#$ch. I store it in my basement like it is on the car when not in use. When it is on the car, it is on for a week or two at a time. My snaps line up fairly well but one is always harder than the other.

I got my '01 in November, 2000. The top cover was just about impossible to get on. I got the sales people, dealership owner and dealership sales manager to work with me. It was always a 20 minute process two person. It seemed like you needed double length fingers to reach down to the prongs.
Then one day in May, I put the top down and VOILA! the top went down a touch more than before and all four prongs on the back of the roll bar structure were easily accessable. Then the cover went on and off in a snap...... well, six snaps. What had been a 20 minute two person job became a 2 minute one person job.
If you enlarge the pic in my sig, you'll see that the cover is not on and the top is not fully down. This picture is from January, 2001; several months before I knew the top wasn't going down.
Perhaps your '02 tops are not going down the same or not going down as far as they should. I've not looked at this up close in an '02.

We gave up on using the cover, too. Perhaps we'll try it from time to time to see if the top goes down a little more, but in the meantime it makes a great dust cover for the furniture stored in our garage.
