Doesn't the cupholder block your shifting arm?

Default Doesn't the cupholder block your shifting arm?

First of all, is that the cupholder, the compartment in the center between the two seats? According to the owner's manual it is. The reason I am unsure is that it doesn't look like other typical cupholders that have a round holder.

Anyway, it seems to have been placed in a peculiar place, the area where your shifting arm would go while changing gears. I thought it would be nice to have cold water on hand while maneuvering in the sun, but the cupholder does not seem like it will hold a water bottle firmly.

This may be Honda's way of saying "keep your drinks outside of this beautiful machine."

Yes, it is in a inconvienient location, but where else could they put it? The '04's have room for two cups (kinda) with a little spring loaded catch between the two positions (oblong box). Right after I got my "S" I had a Venti mocha in the front part of the holder; As I proceded to briskly accelerate in 2nd the little catch uncatched and there was mocha everywhere.
I love my S, but the cup holder, if it can be called that, it my only disappointment I've since learned to apply light pressure from the top of my forearm to the cup as I shift/accelerate. I only use my thumb and finger to shift and almost never have to take my arm off of the rest

I found bottled water in 8oz bottles that are only 4 1/2 in. tall. Works well for me if I place it in the forward "cupholder".

Warning-it's not deep enough to hold the contents of a large carmel machiato from starbucks if it tips...

It's definitely a pain in the rear to try to shift with a drink in the way, but since thats my only complaint, than its really no big deal

Amen to that! America sees to be on the verge of dehydration or starvation at every moment, even a trip to the hardware store!

I am buying a Dodge Magnum - what a sled! Plenty of cupholders, and it goes like stink, has lotsa of Mercedes technology (rear suspension, tranny), and is same price as a gussied up Outback. Mileage with Hemi is 25 highway!

The only time I have problems with the cupholder in my S is when she's angry with me...then she just tosses it out the window.

...I go thirsty a lot lately...
