Default Doing a lot of custom painting!!!!!

i have decided to go crazy and paint a lot of stuff in and on my car. after seeing another fellow s owner with these things i have decided to do it myself. the list is as follows,

headlights housings
tail light housing
shift ring
dash cover
air vents
rear head rest covers.

i work at a body shop so i pay nothing for the paint or the work. so i figuer why not have some fun. i was very worried about taking apart the tail lights as people have told me its a very hard job. i have already cleared my headlights my self so i know they are fairly easy if you know what you are doing. let me just tell you the tail lights are much easier in my opinion. we had an extra tail light from an s2000 that had been crashed at our body shop so i took it home to experimented on taking it apart. 275 degrees for 15 min that thing came apart without any force just pulled and came right off. then removed all the light covers and so forth and was done. it was very simple my problem now which i would like some help with if any can give it to me is. how do i remove the dash cover and the shift ring alone? i have got the whole center consol up many times but i can't figure how to get the shift ring off?? anyways when i am all done with this job i will post pics and let you all see my final job. the final pics will be when we are done molding on my amuse front lip with my gears eye lids and air walker sideskirts molded.

To remove the dash cover, basically, you just pull it out. It has retaining clips that press straight in, and pull straight out. You have to lower the steering column first, and take out the 2 screws from the front (they are under the plugs).

To remove the shift ring, there are 2 OEM plugs that are melted in. They are located between the shifter boot and the switches. Just nip off the back part of the plugs. The other clips are no problem.

Good luck with your project!

The shift ring will reattach just fine without the melted pieces on the back.

There are retainer clips all around the perimeter to hold it in.
