Default Don't make the same mistake I did on changing tranny fluid...!

This is just a warning to everyone...(Even though I doubt anyone would be as stupid as I was in this) Anyway...when I changed my tranny fluid I jacked up the drivers side of the car like 2 feet in the air and then changed it. Which is the same side the fill and drain plug are on...so when I put tranny fluid back in I just kept filling like I was told until it started to pour out...well it didn't start to pour out until I had just finished putting 2 quarts in. I didn't think of it much at the time but, after I started driving her around it was geting really difficult to get into certain gears...anyway I checked the manual and it stated it only took like 1.6 quarts or something...so I kept the car level and pulled the overfill plug and sure enough all kind of fluid came out...about .5 quarts I would say... And now she shifts awesome...

Just wanted to warn anyone that was as dumb as I was in this...

That's how you become an "experienced" mechanic. You won't make that mistake again.

LOL! I was just thinking the same thing!

This is a classic...

Just remember that anytime you check any fluids, make sure the the car is level... L E V E L

Can we say it together?! L E V E L

There, isn't that better?

I definitely admire the cojones here!

Oh yea, I put a B&M shift kit in a Turbo 350 I had in high school and didn't put the o-ring on the thing on the side of the tranny in all the way. Well, on my first test drive...1-2 was like BAM...instant shift. Those things are great for fast shifts, but they beat the hell outta the transmission. Well, I got on the freeway and that o-ring finally worked it way loose...oh my GOD, you wouldn't believe what it looked like in the rear views...PLUMES of white smoke were literally pouring out of the rear of the car.

Funny as hell now, but at the time...man!

lol

Anyone else got a story of something stupid they have done?!

I was mounting a sub in the trunk of my last car (Marauder). When I drilled one of the holes to mount the sub I drilled right into the gas tank. I knew instantley...it stunk like gas in the trunk. BTW...Its not easy to get the gas tank out of a ford panther platform.

Not that long ago the head to the seat bolt on my 04 R1 snapped off. I had to drill the rest of the bolt out and I drilled right onto the top of one of my 1300.00 carbon Termignoni exhaust cans. DOHH!!

Went to put stainless lines on my 06 S2000 and I didn

I found that overfilling my tranny with 2 full quarts helps my GMSFM tranny fluid's life. Many here preach to overfill.
