If you cut and paste the pics and zoom in on the tires, the tread on them looks pretty good, not bald but at least 50%. This guy just lost it at high speed.
Lucky for him it was a S... This car is engineered to survive a major f-up.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! I thought I demolished my MR2 Turbo pretty badly... this barely nudges mine off. Only difference here is I walked away with loss of eyesite and some bruises and burns from airbag and no car. Ive wanted to post pics of it but dont know how to.

Plus, if you look closely at the pic with the bent wheel, it appears the tires are not OEM S02s. The tread pattern on that wheel doesn't look like a S02s tread pattern. I didn't zoom in on the pic so I could very well be mistaken here but can Chitah831 confirm whether the tires are S02s or not?
They are SO3's

In the past I've seen other S2000 crash pictures that were much like this. In two of the crashes with heavy side impact there were deaths involved. It makes me wonder just how great the X frame is when the impact hits in the middle of the X like it did in this one. A passenger would have died in this crash.
I'm very happy the driver of this car will live to drive again.

As bad as this sounds, I hope we can take this person's misfortune and benefit from it by thinking twice before we have the urge to do something "fun" on the roads.
