Don't you guys hate it when this happens? Well I've got a solution!
My solution to the same problem is to dry everything, press the rear bumper and blow into the tail-lights- dry the water that drips, pop the trunk- dry the edges and the water that runs out of the spoiler onto the fore-lid, then open and close the doors about 4 times on each side- which losens up the water caught in the handle and the mirrors. Dry that, dry inside the door and around the rubber seal (that doesn't seal the door at all- otherwise there'd be no water inside the door or on the seal) and I'm usually ok.
I've tried something similar to the paper towels, except I bought a bag of shop towels and wrapped them in the places where water drips to save the trees. I had mixed results.

Dude make sure you check the bottom of your shoe to make sure you don't have toilet paper stuck there. No water spots, but hard to look cool with Charmin on your heel. Otherwise, I think it's not a bad idea if there's no tornado in your area.
